National Technical Consultant for Policy, Coordination and Strategic Planning

Sigrid serves as the national technical consultant for policy, coordination and strategic planning of UN Women Philippines. Her responsibilities include providing analytical and technical support to the Philippines Office in strategic planning and ensuring the quality of monitoring and reporting processes for various programmes, including on women’s economic empowerment. She also assists the office in its engagement with UN common country planning, programming and reporting processes, in accordance with UN system-wide accountability frameworks to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. Additionally, she contributes to the office’s collaborative efforts with development partners, the private sector, government and civil society.
Prior to her current role, Sigrid was the Policy Advocacy Consultant for Women’s Economic Empowerment, where she focused on promoting the integration of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) in business and human rights and corporate sustainability reporting. She co-authored a policy brief titled “Building Pathways to Gender Equality and Sustainability through the WEPs” in 2022 and co-developed the country’s Guidance Document on Business and Human Rights, jointly published by the Commission on Human Rights and UN Women in 2020.
With nearly a decade of experience as a development professional, Sigrid has expertise in public policy, governance, gender equality, human rights, and international development work. She earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Political Science and Economics from the University of the Philippines, and she holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science, Major in Global Politics, from the Ateneo de Manila University and a Master of Arts in International Law and Human Rights from the UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica.
