Crisel Consunji
Crisel Consunji is an award-winning actress, singer, early childhood educator and entrepreneur.
Known for her award-winning performance in the acclaimed 2018 Hong Kong film “Still Human” (HKFA Best New Performer winner, HKFA Best Actress nominee), Crisel’s roots in musical theatre go back to her childhood, having performed for Repertory Philippines, Trumpets and the New Voice Company. She would later receive the prestigious “Ani Ng Dangal” recognition from the National Commission of Culture and Arts in the Philippines (NCCA).
In 2008, she moved to Hong Kong to work as a vocalist for Hong Kong Disneyland, and has since been acclaimed for her projects on stage, film and TV.
She has recently been featured in notable concerts such as Symphony Under the Stars with the HK Philharmonic (2023), “A Night at the Musicals” with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (2021), and “Disney Live in Concert” for Hong Kong Disneyland (2022).
She is a trained teacher with an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, specializing in music-based learning for infants and toddlers. Her work with families is best seen through Baumhaus, her HK-based creative enterprise and family centre established in 2015. She continues to run professional development for educators and caregivers alike, and currently distributes the internationally-renowned Kindermusik program for schools and organisations in Hong Kong.
Crisel uses her voice to advocate for family education and community empowerment in Hong Kong. She has another Master’s degree in Political Science, and devotes her time to projects that particularly champion education and social awareness for marginalized groups. She currently serves as a facilitator for the Hong Kong Metropolitan University’s CBMP courses—an outreach program that promotes diversity and inclusion by providing access to quality courses to underserved groups in the community.
Between 2020 to 2022, Crisel has been named in Prestige Magazine’s HK’s Women of Power, and Jessica Magazine’s Most Successful Women Awards. Alongside all her creative, entrepreneurial and social projects, this Hong Kong-based Filipina is a mother to her baby Runa, and wife to her business partner, engineer-designer Carsten Rakutt.
